Breakfast At Ceol Na Mara
Enjoy our AA award winning 2 course breakfast menu. We source our ingredients as locally as possible, such as fish from the Outer Hebrides, bacon, sausage and black pudding coming from the local butcher in Harris, eggs from our own chickens and Elly’s amazing home made bread!
Breakfast is served 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., and is a leisurely affair as we try to cook as many items as possible freshly. A packed breakfast can be provided if you need to leave early, but please try to let us know a few days in advance.
There is plenty of choices including our full Hebridean breakfast , plus fish specialities such as Stornoway Kippers, smoked salmon and natural smoked haddock. Our creamy porridge with a choice of toppings is also a firm favourite, as is our Ceol na Mara Special made with our homemade granola, yoghurt, fruits of the forest layered with maple syrup.

Eating Out
On the Isle of Harris, we can highly recommend:
Harris Hotel (01859 502154) – traditional in appearance but great food (very positive reports from our guests). Super seafood, fish, venison, steaks etc. – open all week – in Tarbert by the school/fire station.
Pier House Restaurant at the Hotel Hebrides (01859 502364) – super seafood and fish – great reports from our guests – open all week – in Tarbert by the ferry terminal so a couple of minutes by car (or a twenty-minute walk). This restaurant can only be booked two weeks in advance.
North Harbour Bistro
The North Bistro also known as the “Scalpay Bistro” (01859 540218). Food of very high quality, beautifully presented by a chef who adores cooking and trying new things! He likes to pop out to his customers and tell them how he has produced the meals – great if you’re into your cooking. It is cash/cheque only and currently does not sell alcohol (bring your own). Needs booking well in advance as it is exceedingly popular. The Bistro is 20 minutes from Ceol na Mara on the island of Scalpay (there is a bridge so no need to swim!).
Flavour Tarbert (07388 366361). Flavour offers a new dining experience of a set eight-course tasting menu using the finest local ingredients, prepared in front of you by Chef Chris. Diners arrive at 7pm.
Scarista House Scarista (01859 550238). A Set Menu is served each night with diners arriving for canopies at 7:00 p.m. prior to dining at 7:30 p.m.
Talla na Mara on the west side of Harris has a beautiful setting overlooking Tarransay. It is open Monday to Saturday for both lunch and evening meals. It sometimes choose to close on Thursdays. It has a simple dinner menu but if you are looking for battered fish and chips, it is a great option,
There are very good quality takeaway venues which open during the day and early evening for snacks. They include Lorna’s Larder, Blas Phon las (Horgabost), the Butty Bus at Leverburgh, and the Temple Takeaway and Bakery. Andy and Elly will provide information on opening times to match the time of your stay.
There are also eating choices in Stornoway and the Isle of Lewis. Please do ask Elly and Andy before your stay if you need some help further afield. However, if you wish to have a meal in a restaurant anywhere on the islands, we highly recommend booking before you arrive with us.
